Klopp warns media at Germany unveiling

Jurgen Klopp opened his tenure as Germany’s head coach with a forceful message, vowing to accept sporting criticism but refusing to tolerate personal attacks on his family. Unveiled on Friday, the 59‑year‑old signed a deal through the 2030 World Cup and stressed that he would leave “without compensation” if the media collectively felt he should go — but would walk immediately if his family were targeted, referencing past treatment of Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel.

Klopp arrives after Germany’s round‑of‑32 World Cup exit to Paraguay and aims to restore a lost identity. He urged the nation to rediscover “the German way,” aspiring to match the standards of Spain and France. He praised the squad’s talent, highlighting the U17 double triumph of 2023, and promised an open selection policy for all eligible players.

Backed by DFB president Bernd Neuendorf, Klopp begins a new era with assistants Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and Sven Bender.
