French manager Zinedine Zidane is going to be the cause of many heart attacks if he keeps up this style of football, he wins the matches but makes the fans suffer like no other manager has done before. This Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu, the suffering didn't fail to attend the stands, everybody was on the edge of their seats. Alvaro Morata scored the opener late in the second half, the last half hour of the match was incredibly stressful. It got more intense after Orellana scored the equalizer.
But just nine minutes before the end of the match, a Toni Kroos special gave Los Blancos de victory. But perhaps the most talked about event was James Rodriguez's participation, he played 20 minutes this time and completely changed the face of the squad, Zidane was really happy with both his and Lucas Vazquez's performances. After the match, he confirmed that James is not leaving the club this summer.
He said: "James improved the team; he's staying here. Both of them did improve the game a little for us. That's what substitutes are there for, to improve the team. The players grew towards the end and that is what is important. He looked good to me and that wasn't easy in a game like this. He had a chance to score. He's staying”.
Zizou added that on the defensive end: “We didn't shine, that's true and there is always a chance that in some games we won't play like we want. That's a part of the work we have been doing. We can improve but I'm happy with how we have performed at this start of the season. We've won both of our games and the Supercopa. Now we are going to rest, even though there's the international fixtures”.
“The heat affected both sides. We had a difficult game against a side who were much more complicated than we expected - especially in attack. We can't always win easily. Easy games don't exist. I'm happy with the three points and the attitude the players showed”.
