Lampard confident Chelsea can meet Real Madrid challenge
10.04.23 / 08:19
Lampard was put in charge until the end of the season on Thursday, just over two years since the end of his first spell as manager at Stamford Bridge. The defeat at Molineux left Chelsea still 11th in the Premier League table despite spending a world record amount of over £500m on new players in a season.
But they advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will face champions Real in the first leg in Spain. Real Madrid were in superb form as they thrashed Barcelona 4-0 midweek to reach the Copa del Rey final and knocked out Premier opponents in the Round of 16 with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Liverpool.
"If you're worried, don't come. The players shouldn't be," said Lampard.
