Las Palmas 3-1 win at Rayo Vallecano

Given the statistics, one could assume that the outcome would have been reversed, with Rayo dominating with 64% of the possession and shooting 34 shots to Las Palmas's 11. However, the visitors were the more clinical team, and they gained another crucial three points to climb to 15th place in the standings.

Las Palmas also benefited from a fantastic performance by goalie Jasper Cillessen, who was chosen the game's most valuable player for his outstanding performances in goal. At six minutes, Fabio Silva flicked a header home from a corner to start the scoring. Soon after, Rayo Vallecano's own attempt from a corner scraped the crossbar, and that would be the tale of its night as it was denied by Cillessen or wasted one opportunity after another. The second goal for Las Palmas was scored in a similar fashion to the first, however in minute 62, Aridane flicked the ball into his own net.
