Las Palmas holds Real Madrid, 1-1

Real Madrid escaped their first league loss of the season with a 1-1 draw against Las Palmas on Thursday, thanks to a Vinicius Junior penalty in the second half. The Brazilian scored from the penalty spot in the 69th minute after Alex Suarez was ruled guilty of handball.

Madrid trailed 1-0 after Alberto Moleiro scored in the fifth minute. Real Madrid drew for the second time in three La Liga games, dropping to fourth place in the standings, four points behind archrivals Barcelona. Kylian Mbappé, Madrid's biggest signing in years, has failed to score in the league this season. His sole goal for Madrid came in the club's UEFA Super Cup win over Atalanta earlier this month. Las Palmas is yet to win this season, drawing at Sevilla and losing against Leganes. Barcelona became the only club to have three victories in the first three games on Tuesday, defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-1.
