Lavezzi announces retirement

Lavezzi said he would take some time out to reflect on his future, and the Argentine has now decided to hang up his boots.

They were amazing years of this story,” he wrote on Instagram.

Years marked by learning, unique moments and lots of memories that will stay in my heart for good.I am forever grateful for those who have stayed by my side throughout this journey”.

The forward made his senior debut for Estudiantes in 2003, before joining San Lorenzo at the end of his first season.

He moved to Napoli in the summer of 2007 and spent five years at the San Paolo, playing 188 times and scoring 48 goals for the Partenopei, winning a Coppa Italia.

He left the club for Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 for a reported €28m and lifted four Ligue 1 titles in France, before rounding off his career with Hebei China Fortune.
