Gustav Isaksen scored the lone goal to give Lazio a 1-0 victory at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday, continuing Atalanta's dismal Serie A record. For the first time since 2014 under Stefano Colantuono, Gian Piero Gasperini's team has now lost three straight league games without scoring.
Atalanta is now third in the rankings after losing to leaders Inter by 10 points with seven games remaining in the season. With no shots on goal and a combined expected goals (xG) total of only 0.2 at the end of the first half, both sides struggled in front of goal. Mateo Retegui was the first to test Christos Mandas four minutes after the restart, but it was Lazio who hit the front in the 53rd minute through Isaksen. Mandas' punt forward was poorly defended by Atalanta, with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru heading the ball into Isaksen, who finished past Marco Carnesecchi on the slide.
