Lazio defeated Genoa 3-0 Wednesday evening, earning three crucial points. Matteo Cancellieri, a young player, assisted the Biancocelesti in their triumph. In the face of a strong and resilient Lazio, who were set up in a 4-2-3-1 because of an ongoing injury issue, the hosts dominated for significant portions of the game but were unable to convert their dominance into goals. When Matteo Cancellieri received a brilliant through pass from Taty Castellanos, he comfortably curled the ball around Genoa goalkeeper Nicola Leali and into the top corner, rewarding Lazio's early pressure and excellent start to the game.
Genoa grew back into the game after Lazio’s opener, with the fans in the stadium providing a real 12th man boost to the Rossoblu. As head coach Patrick Vieira watched on from the stands, his side had a couple of half-chances to level the game before the half-hour mark.
