In Friday's 1-1 draw with Empoli, Argentine striker Santiago Pierotti scored his first goal for Lecce, helping them avoid another Serie A loss. Antonio Gallo headed a late equaliser for the home team after crossing from the left for the attacker positioned in the centre.
Pierotti scored his first goal in 22 Serie A games since moving from Argentine team Colón de Santa Fe to Lecce in January. After losing five of their last seven games, Lecce began the game at the bottom of the standings. However, Friday's point moved them up above Monza and Venezia before they face Lazio and Parma, respectively. For Empoli, Pietro Pellegri scored his second goal in as many games in the 33rd minute as he struck beyond the penalty area and inside the left post. Pellegri scored his first goal since leaving Torino in the summer for last weekend's 1-0 victory over Como.
