According to reports, Nicola Sansone is about to sign a two-year deal with the Stadio Via del Mare. Arriving in Puglia on Sunday, the 31-year-old offensive midfielder will have a physical the following day. If all goes according to plan, the talented playmaker will join Lecce on Monday. The Bayern Munich youth programme is where Sansone acquired his craft. But in 2011, he returned to Italy to join Parma after failing to make a single senior appearance for the consistently successful Germany team.
He has spent the most of his professional career in Serie A, with the exception of a mixed three-year period with Villarreal from 2016 and 2019. He had a four-year deal with Bologna. But last June, Thiago Motta's men broke up their association with him. Since serious offers were hard to come by over the summer, Sansone is now prepared to join forces with Lecce as a free agent.
