Lens went past Lille 2-1 to secure victory

Lens won against Lille 2-1 and will stay in remote contention for fourth place in the French league. They have now qualified automatically for the Europa League. Lens stands in the seventh spot and is three points behind Monaco in the fourth place, making them two points ahead of Lille in the eighth.

Well, it was a while since Lille lost in nine games after a 5-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain. The lens started very strongly but after defender Jose Fonte couldn’t clear a corner, midfielder Przemyslaw Frankowski slotted in the bottom corner just after 4 minutes. Xeka led a goal back for Lille close to the break. For the match on Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain will host rival Marseille which can automatically secure a spot in the Champions League and move six points clear in the second place, if the team wins.
