Levante thrash Atletico Madrid 2-0

La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid got defeated for the first time in 12 league games when they got beaten 2-0 at home to Levante this evening. The visitors were given a half-hour mark lead by Jose Luis Morales with a deflected strike from just inside the area to cheat keeper Jan Oblak. Jorge de Frutos knocked into an empty net to score the second in added time with Oblak committing himself forward to challenge a corner.

Atletico emerged fighting in the second, post a poor first half but couldn’t defeat Levante keeper Daniel Cardenas, regardless of firing 28 shots on goal, 11 out of which were on target. Joao Felix was twice denied with fine saves. Luis Suarez’s 30-yard free-kick hit the woodwork straight away. Angel Correa’s goal had been ruled out.
