As Liverpool extended their perfect start in the Champions League on Wednesday, Darwin Nunez scored the lone goal to commemorate his comeback to the starting lineup in their 1-0 triumph against RB Leipzig.
Nunez had an opportunity to score in the 27th minute when Mohamed Salah's header was headed in, but Diogo Jota was sidelined due to injury. That was plenty for Liverpool to preserve an outstanding start to new manager Arne Slot's tenure and record their sixth away victory out of six in all competitions this season. With nine points, the Reds are second in the 36-team league phase, only surpassed by Aston Villa on goal differential. They also boast a perfect home and away record in the Champions League. It wasn't all one-way traffic, though, as Liverpool had opportunities to extend their advantage when Alexis Mac Allister struck the crossbar and demands for a penalty were dismissed.
