Liverpool 2-0 defeat Wolves

After a 2-0 loss to Wolves at Anfield, goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah increased Liverpool's position in the top six of the Premier League.

With a game still to play against fourth-placed Tottenham, the Reds are just six points behind them. The visitors were once again punished for the absence of a goal threat going forward as Wolves, who are now in 15th place, are only three points above the relegation zone. The biggest opportunity of the first half was missed by Harvey Elliott, who also put Jose Sa to the test with a drive from outside the box. Darwin Nunez was denied the game's first goal midway through the second half because of a foul by Jota on Max Kilman; the Uruguayan's effort was disallowed following a VAR review.
