Liverpool are seriously targeting Giovanni Leoni

According to FC Inter News, Liverpool are seriously targeting Parma’s 18-year-old centre-back Giovanni Leoni, with Arne Slot keen to strengthen his defence. The Merseysiders face competition from Serie A and Premier League clubs, but Parma have Leoni tied to a long-term deal after extending his contract in February. The teenager impressed with 17 league appearances last season and is seen as key to new coach Carlos Cuesta’s plans.

Liverpool, short on central defenders behind Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, have already had two bids for Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace. With Joe Gomez injured in pre-season, the Reds are expected to sign at least two centre-backs this summer. Leoni’s potential and availability make him a prime candidate as Liverpool look to add both quality and depth to their defensive ranks ahead of the new campaign.
