Liverpool's dramatic 6-3 victory against Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool's dramatic 6-3 victory against Tottenham Hotspur put them four points clear at the top of the Premier League going into Christmas. Encouraged by Chelsea's previous draw at Everton, Liverpool capitalised on the Blues' error with a commanding performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Spurs did momentarily provide hope of a comeback.

With goals from Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai, plus a goal from James Maddison for the home team, Liverpool led 3-1 at the half. Early in the second half, Mohamed Salah gave himself a well-earned double, and although Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski kept things intriguing, Diaz gave Liverpool the lead in the 85th minute. The Reds will top the tree at Christmas for the first time since the 2020/21 season, while 11th-placed Spurs must lick their wounds ahead of a tough trip to in-form Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.
