Lyon defeats 10-man Strasbourg late in the game

Lyon defeated 10-man Strasbourg 2-1 at home in Ligue 1 on Sunday thanks to a sensational last-minute goal from Afonso Moreira. Joaquin Panichelli gave Liam Rosenior's young team the lead at Groupama Stadium, and Ismael Doukoure turned through his own net before being sent off for a violent tackle. The hosts appeared to have lost their opportunity to qualify for the top four when Lyon captain Corentin Tolisso missed a first-half penalty.

Strasbourg is in seventh place, two points behind its rivals, while Lyon is in fourth place with 18 points thanks to the heroics of replacement Moreira in the closing minutes. He scored a fantastic curling goal from the left of the box into the far top corner in the 91st minute to give Lyon all three points. With a victory, the visitors would have clinched the second position behind the defending champions, Paris Saint-Germain, who defeated Brest 3-0 on Saturday.
