Mallorca’s struggles on the road in the Spanish league are finally over. The team's seven-match losing drought in road games, which had began before the World Cup last year, was broken on Monday with a 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo. Amath Ndiaye scored the game-winning goal for Mallorca in the 21st minute which changed the entire game for them. Mallorca had lost six consecutive games and had only one win overall in their previous six La Liga away games.
The outcome moved the Mexican Javier Aguirre-coached team up to 11th position, one point ahead of Celta in 12th place, who were looking for a win following two straight draws at Sevilla and at Almeria. With nine rounds left, Barcelona is in first place, 11 points ahead of Real Madrid in second.
