Man City's Gvardiol out with broken leg

Manchester City’s Premier League title challenge suffered a significant setback following a draw against Chelsea, leaving them six points behind leaders Arsenal. To make matters worse, defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias were forced off injured before Enzo Fernandez’s stoppage-time equalizer. City subsequently announced that Gvardiol sustained a right leg tibial fracture requiring surgery, while the full extent of Dias's injury remains unconfirmed.

Pep Guardiola now faces a severe defensive crisis. John Stones is already out, and Rayan Ait-Nouri is competing at the Africa Cup of Nations. Additionally, City will miss Nico Gonzalez, Savinho, Oscar Bobb, Mateo Kovacic, and Omar Marmoush against Brighton.

Conversely, Rodri provided a rare boost by completing his first start since October. After overcoming a severe knee injury and recent hamstring setbacks, the Spanish midfielder expressed deep gratitude. He described his return to the pitch as a gift and a second opportunity to enjoy his profession.
