Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a move for Thiago Almada, with Pep Guardiola pushing for the Argentine playmaker’s arrival to bolster the club’s attack next year, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The 24-year-old, who joined Atletico Madrid from Botafogo this summer, is also attracting interest from Barcelona. However, the Catalan giants fear they could lose out to City in the race for his signature.
Almada has long been tipped for greatness, drawing early comparisons to Lionel Messi during his youth career in Argentina. While he has yet to reach such lofty heights, his progress has been clear, especially during a productive loan spell at Lyon last season. Now with Atletico, he has already clocked 209 minutes across three La Liga appearances. With Guardiola keen on adding more creativity, Almada could become one of City’s headline targets in 2025.
