In a very dramatic match, Tottenham, who had taken the lead via Heung-Min Son in the first half, managed to score a second equaliser to break their losing streak of three games. Jack Grealish had appeared to have come off the bench to win it for the Premier League winners. Son scored goals at each ends of the encounter before Phil Foden seemed to put City in charge. However, Giovani Lo Celso made them pay halfway through the second half after Erling Haaland squandered opportunities and Pep Guardiola's team also struck the post and the bar.

Though Kulusevski had the last word to award Ange Postecoglou for his entertaining approach, Grealish felt he had made up his mind too late. Spurs reclaim fifth place in the standings as City loses the opportunity to reclaim second place and currently trails leaders Arsenal by three points.
