Manchester United sign Real Zaragoza youth star Mateo Mejia

El Periodico de Aragon say Mejia has actually been training with United since the summer and the only reason why he has not debuted is due to suffering two ankle injuries.

The 16-year-old is said to have been one of the rising stars of Spanish football and he netted a devastating 60 goals for the Zaragoza youth team last season.

Back in June, Sportaragon.com - a website covering football in Zaragoza’s region - had cited a report from The Sun that a deal had been struck between the two clubs.

The website adds that several leading clubs from both England and Spain had been monitoring the winger’s progress, but the Red Devils had appeared back then to have won the race for his signature.

Reports label Mejia as a ‘goalscoring wideman’ and is likely to be integrated into United’s youth teams in the coming months.
