Manchester United signs Wout Weghorst to replace Cristiano Ronaldo

After Ronaldo left United in November, manager Erik ten Hag was desperate to improve his offense. Now, striker Wout Weghorst has been officially signed by Manchester United on a loan deal that will last through the 2022–2023 season.

The 30-year-old Burnley loanee had been playing for Besiktas in Turkey, but he canceled that arrangement prematurely to enable the transfer. Although an agreement between the two teams was said to have been negotiated earlier this week, there was still some ambiguity regarding the payment. However, in order to keep him on for the remainder of the campaign, United paid the £2.5 million severance money directly to Besiktas.

After the news on Friday night, United supporters can now welcome having a new striker to their team.
