Marseille defeated Lens 3-1 in the French league thanks to a goal from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after VAR saved the day. After Rémy Labeau-Lascary's late equalizer was disallowed for a foul by Angelo Fulgini during the buildup, the Denmark midfielder scored in the 89th minute of Saturday's game in Lens with a free kick.
The home crowd erupted in cheers upon hearing the verdict, and they were even more incensed to see former Lens star Elye Wahi play for the visitors. Valentin Rongier gave Marseille the lead early in the second half. Luis Henrique, a Brazilian attacker, counterattacked in the 57th minute to make it 2-0. After their third straight-away victory, the win helped Marseille solidify their third-place finish. The club led by Roberto De Zerbi has lost all three of their recent home games.
