Martino can't explain what happened to Argentina

In the upcoming days, the Argentina Football Federation (AFA), will decide what the best will be for manager Gerardo Martino. After losing his second straight final against Chile in Copa America, we can safely assume that this team may be cursed after all. They were on point to win their first major tournament in the last 23 years, but it's almost as if losing Diego Maradona back in 1994 due to the use of illegal substances, was the beginning of this curse.

At this point, not even Lionel Messi who is the best player in the world has been able to shake this curse off. But Messi is looking at the problem from all the wrong angles, manager Gerardo Martino was lost for explanations of what exactly is the reason why Argentina can't get past the final threshold to lift a trophy. After the painful defeat, manager Martino attempted to explain how difficult it is to accept a new loss.

"It is not easy to explain what happened. Argentina should win this game. There is pain. Losing again is a too large pain to have a different position. I agree with the disappointment of not having won the Cup, there were expectations. [But] The players have no reason to not continue trying. They do it with honesty and effort. And they do it well. After the expulsion of Rojo we had some problems to retrieve the ball, therefore we brought on Matias [Kranevitter]. The entry of Erik [Lamela] was to take advantage of the tiredness of the rival defense. We were looking to push up until the last minute."
