Matthaus thinks Lahm should be Sporting Director at Bayern

Being really close to retirement from professional activity, Philipp Lahm has a lot to think about when he retires because in life there are always new challenges to be addressed. At Bayern Munich he's had a grand career which has led him to lift every trophy imaginable for the German giants, he proved many times that he is the perfect leader for a world class club such as this. His decision-making skills have been put to the test several times and he has passed them with flying colors.

But after hanging up the boots what's next for Lahm? Well, he hasn't told the world what he plans to do after he is finished. However, the club has already expressed their desire to keep the man as an advisor and even give him a high rank inside the club if he doesn't choose to start a career as a manager. Club and Germany legend Lothar Matthaus wanted to go further in that thought and full on proposed Lahm as the new Bayern Sporting Director.

Writing in his weekly column for Sport Bild, Matthaus proposed the following presented his proposal: "Lahm has to remain at Bayern after his playing days. He can be the link between the team, the board of directors and the club when he hangs up his boots. I think he would be better suited for this job than Sammer. Philipp has a much closer and warmer relationship with the team. People like him. He is always willing to talk and is perfect for the job due to his typical calm Bavarian way of acting. He is not a loud mouth. He represents everything Bayern stand for. Sammer has always been a bit of a stranger. He occasionally managed to anger both the players and the fans with his behaviour."
