All of Argentina is still wondering why Leo Messi hasn't been able to shine with his country as he does with his club, against Brazil this past Thursday everybody expected him to shine and take the team out of the whole they got into. But Leo was completely well-marked at all times and wasn't able to hurt Brazil's defensive line. It was a bit brutal watching him increase his frustration as time went by, but he remains hopeful for what can still happen.
Argentina is just three points from taking the third place in on the table and next week they can do that against Colombia. After the match, Messi told TyC Sports: "We did not expect this result. Up to the first goal the match was even, we were doing well. We have to think about Colombia now and not repeat the mistakes we have been doing. Within all of the bad, the good thing is that we depend on ourselves, but we cannot give away more points."
Messi added via ESPN: "We need to be strong and get out of this situation. Today we have to be more united than ever. We all want the same thing: to qualify for the World Cup."
Bauza was also hopeful, he believes they still have hopes to qualify: "In three days we have another match. We know that qualification depends on us. With the result, I had to take risks. But it was a match with plenty of space for Brazil."
