This Tuesday at NGR Stadium in Houston Texas, the United States National Men's Team wasn't able to compete against an Argentina side that seemed to be in practice this Tuesday in the Copa America semifinals. Gerardo Martino's side literally jogged towards the third consecutive final in the last three years of major tournaments for them. It couldn't be anyone but Leo Messi the player who led Argentina to the final with another amazing performance without breaking a sweat. The Barcelona star gave two assists and scored a gorgeous free-kick with his left foot.
The fans who paid their ticket to see Messi left the stadium overly satisfied with what they saw in Houston Texas, he was the one who gave the first assist of the game early in the first half. It was a dink over the defense which gave Ezequiel Lavezzi the chance to place a header over the goalkeeper on the third minute, not a single effort was made by the American defense to stop this play. But the fans were happy and screaming in Argentina's favor. After that goal, Lionel Messi commanded his side with countless missed chances.
Half an hour into the first half, Messi took a set piece and scored a beautiful long distance free-kick for Argentina's 2-0 victory. After half time, it was Gonzalo Higuain who became the game's protagonist, first with a Lavezzi assist from a long distance for his first goal by the 50th minute. Then near the end, Messi grabbed a loose ball after a defensive mistake made by the US defensive line and gave the ball to an unmarked Higuain in order to score his brace. This is how Lionel Messi led his beloved Argentina, to the third major tournament final in the last three consecutive years. They wait for either Colombia or Chile who will play this Wednesday in the second semifinal.
