Lionel Messi has officially completed the takeover of Eldense, with the Alicante‑based club confirming on Thursday that the Argentine star is now their new owner. The announcement follows nearly three weeks of anticipation after Eldense first revealed that an agreement had been reached. In its statement, the club described the acquisition as the beginning of “an exciting new era” in its century‑long history, outlining ambitions to consolidate and grow within professional football.
The deal, however, still requires formal approval from Spain’s National Sports Council (CSD), which must validate the transaction under the country’s Sports Law. Eldense currently sit 19th in the standings and inside the relegation zone to Primera Federación, having collected just five points from 21 available through one win and two draws. Messi’s arrival marks a significant shift for the struggling side, offering renewed visibility and expectations as they attempt to reverse their fortunes on and off the pitch.
