Mexico is back as the best team in the Concacaf area and gives hope to every Mexican for what this team can do in the next Copa America this summer. Since Carlos Osorio arrived, they have won every single match they've played and conceived no goals, a perfect record with a sober approach taking advantage of their best players and virtues. The best player Mexico has right now is without a doubt Porto's forward Jesus Corona, but there are a lot of players who are having a fantastic moment.
After winning the last match against Canada in Canadian turf, Mexico arrived in Estadio Azteca to secure the pass to the Concacaf WC qualifiers' next round. Forward Marco Fabian got the big chance for Mexico before the 18th minute as he was taken down inside the box, PSV's Andres Guardado turned the chance into Mexico's first goal from the spot. But the best Mexican inside the field was about to make the difference right before half time.
Jesus Manuel Corona took a loose ball right outside the box and performed a version of Zidane's famous roulette only to finish with a potent right foot strike to the bottom corner for the 2-0. The match went to half time after this top class finish from Corona. The second half was way more mellow from Mexico, they let Canada have the ball a little more but never risked a goal against them, Osorio showed how he can really manage any result so far.
In other results from Concacaf, the United States recovered the second spot from their group after defeating Guatemala 4-0 with a brace by Clint Dempsey and goals by Cameron and Jozy Altidore. Costa Rica also won 3-0 against Jamaica, Panama defeated Haiti 1-0, Trinidad & Tobago demolished Saint Vincent 6-0 and Honduras won at home 2-0 against El Salvador.
