Milan beat Girona 1-0

After some spectacular manoeuvring in the 37th minute at the San Siro, Portugal winger Leao scored his eighth goal of the season to give Milan their fifth consecutive victory in the competition.

After seven games, Sergio Conceicao's squad is in sixth place with 15 points, and they will at least qualify for the playoffs. They also have a strong possibility of finishing in the top eight with their final league phase matchup against Dinamo Zagreb. Leao's goal was a reward for a strong individual performance from a player who has a history of coming and going from games and had a tense relationship with Paulo Fonseca, Conceicao's predecessor. Given that Michel's club is seven points out of the playoffs and hence eliminated, Girona's first Champions League campaign will end with their visit to Arsenal next week.
