Luka Modric has ended speculation about his international future by confirming to head coach Slaven Bilic and the Croatian federation that he will remain available for all six UEFA Nations League fixtures. After Croatia’s World Cup exit to Portugal in the round of 32, many believed the 41‑year‑old had played his final match for the national team, having already featured in five editions of the tournament.
Instead, Modric has chosen to continue his extraordinary journey, with the federation celebrating his decision and highlighting his 202 caps and historic achievements. Bilic expressed his delight, stressing Modric’s immense influence on and off the pitch and his excitement at working with the veteran again after fourteen years.
Modric remains the defining figure of Croatia’s golden era, leading the nation to the 2018 World Cup final, third place in 2022 and the 2023 Nations League final. His leadership and longevity continue to set the standard for Croatian football.
