Monaco thrashes Metz 5-2

Monaco defeated struggling Metz 5-2 thanks to two goals from Folarin Balogun, moving Monaco into the second place in Ligue 1. Tukumi Minamino, Maghnes Akliouche, and Vanderson scored three goals in the first sixteen minutes for Monaco, silencing the home crowd and putting them two points ahead of Brest. The fourth goal of Monaco came from Balogun, who took advantage of a mistake committed by goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja in the 76th minute.

Ibou Sane and Papa Amadou Diallo then gave Metz hope for an unexpected comeback. With three minutes remaining, former Arsenal attacker Balogun sealed Monaco's decisive victory, swiftly putting an end to their dreams. Paris Saint-Germain is leading the league by a comfortable 10-point margin they will take on Marseille on Sunday. Three points ahead of last-place Clermont, in 17th position, Metz was still in the relegation zone.
