Mongolia edges Myanmar in World Cup qualification match

The match was held at the Mongolian Football Federation Stadium in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia.

Mongolia started their best line up for the match and showed the better performance in early minutes of the match that was very difficult for Myanmar.

Mongolia led Myanmar as early as the 16th minute of the first half when Mongolian player Dulguun finished a move from the right wing to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

After the goal, Myanmar worked hard for an equaliser. Statistics show Mongolia had 38 percent of possession while Myanmar had 62 percent in the first half.

In the 65th minute Myanmar’s Maung Maung Lwin was given the red card making a comeback even more difficult.

Despite substitutions, Myanmar could not manage an equaliser. Mongolia counter-attacked strongly.

Myanmar will play against Asian football powerhouse Japan next at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on September 10.
