After a 1-1 draw with Montpellier, which finished the Friday game with nine men, Nantes remained in danger of being relegated to the second-tier French league. Within two minutes of play, Montpellier took the lead with Akor Adams following a quick counterattack.

Five minutes later, Matthis Abline scored an angled goal for Nantes thanks to careless midfield play by the home team. Lucas Mincarelli Davin and Arnaud Nordin of Montpellier were sent off during stoppage time as the team searched for the winner with 9 men on the field. Nantes failed to take advantage of the situation and could only add one more point to their total. They are only six points above the relegation zone in 14th position in Ligue 1. Montpellier came in at number twelve after adding one point.
