In a match that was Salvatore Bocchetti's first as head coach, Monza suffered a devastating 2-1 defeat to Parma. Monza put up a strong fight despite being down to ten men, but they were finally defeated by a goal in the closing seconds.
Pablo Mari's penalty for tackling Woyo Coulibaly inside the area in the 54th minute was the game-changing moment. Following a protracted VAR review, the referee gave Mari a second yellow card and a penalty, reducing Monza to ten men. Parma took the lead thanks to Hernani's clinical conversion of the penalty. Later Pedro Pereira headed home a cross to give Monza an equalizer despite their numerical disadvantage.
