In the last match of the eighth round of Serie A matches on Monday night, Monza defeated Hellas Verona 3-0 on the road to secure their first league victory of the season. Dany Mota scored a double, while Alessandro Bianco added the finishing touches. Prior to the match, Monza had three defeats, four ties, and one victory during the whole Serie A season. They were ranked 19th. Verona had won three of their first seven games of the season, but they had also dropped three.
It took just nine minutes for the scores to be opened on Monday night. Mota's incredible volley gave the visitors the lead following a lively first half. Halfway through the second half, the Portuguese scored the second goal for himself and his squad. This time, it was all out as Milan Djuric's header on a goal-kick put Mota in a one-on-one match with Lorenzo Montipò in the Verona goal.
