Sunday's 3-0 drubbing of Hellas Verona marked the terrible start to Napoli's Serie A campaign. The team also lost key midfield player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia when he clashed with an opponent. Just before halfway in his first league game as the 2023 winners' manager, Antonio Conte had to substitute Kvaratskhelia since the Georgian appeared uneasy after the incident.

After five minutes, Dailon Livramento went in front of the defense and slid in a close-range cross to give the home team the lead, compounding Napoli's woes. After 75 minutes, Daniel Mosquera calmly headed in a through pass from Verona to increase the team's advantage, extending the nightmare for Napoli. Verona's defense let up in stoppage time, allowing Mosquera to finish with a brace as Verona scored a third goal.
