Globo Esporte claims that until John's departure is finalised and signed, the Rio club is delaying formally finalising the transaction. The 36-year-old goalie is presently travelling to the United States with Bournemouth for their preseason trip. He has already started the process of ending his contract, and it is not anticipated that the Premier League team will obstruct his departure.

Neto would join Botafogo straight from North America if all went according to plan. Neto was selected by Botafogo because of his background, preparedness, and ease of negotiation. "Bournemouth don't count on him," insider Sergio Santana said on the Globo Esporte podcast. He should be able to end his contract amicably because he was already out on loan. He would be free to play, even if he didn't have a complete rhythm.
