In the 82nd minute, Boga found his place from 18 yards out and unleashed a low effort that Reims custodian Yehvann Diouf palmed into his own net. Nice is renowned for exchanging passes in its own half as a methodical way to search for an opportunity. However, in the 55th minute, goalie Marcin Bulka deviated from the plan with a lengthy punt. Gaetan Laborde raced forward to open the score for Nice with a shot off the underside of the bar after the Reims defence cleared the ball into his path.

In the 78th minute, Yunis Abdelhamid, the captain of Reims, headed a cross from Junya Ito downward to equalise. In the 67th, Ito again made an attempt at hitting the woodwork. This season, Nice has been based around a strong defence, which has allowed only six goals in 15 league games, making it the stingiest in the top five leagues in Europe.
