Tottenham moved up to fourth place after defeating Everton at the weekend. Richarlison and Son Heung-min scored first-half goals for Ange Postecoglou's club, with Andre Gomes' late attempt serving as a small consolation.
The victory, however, came at a cost. Cristian Romero was replaced at halftime due to a suspected hamstring injury, while Richarlison was replaced with 30 minutes remaining owing to a back ailment. Postecoglou stated of Romero after the game, "He felt tightness in his hamstring just before half-time, so we had to take him off.” Romero and Richarlison join a long list of absentees at Hotspur Way, and it is unclear if the pair will play against Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday. Both James Maddison and Micky van de Ven are still sidelined after suffering injuries against Chelsea in November. Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, and Alfie Whiteman are all out.
