Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at the City Ground, and Anthony Elanga scored for the third straight Premier League game to put them in third place. After being superbly picked out by Morgan Gibbs-White and then pushing the ball in, Elanga, who had scored in victories over Aston Villa and Brentford, gave the home team the lead in the 28th minute. Despite having three shots on goal, returning Brennan Johnson was unable to get past the Forest custodian, and Tottenham seldom bothered Matz Sels during the match.
After seeing Radu Dragusin leave the game due to injury minutes earlier, former Forest defender Djed Spence also had an unpleasant comeback, receiving a second yellow card late in the game to offer Ange Postecoglou another defensive problem. With Thursday's victory, Forest moves up to third place ahead of Arsenal and their matchup with Ipswich Town, while Spurs remain in 11th place, 10 points outside the top four.
