Atletico Madrid announced the signing of the Argentine playmaker, after reaching an agreement with Botafogo, which is subject to the player passing the relevant medical tests and signing his new contract.
"Atletico Madrid and Botafogo F.R. have agreed on the transfer of 24-year-old Argentine international Thiago Almada, who will travel to Madrid to undergo the corresponding medical examination and, subsequently, sign his contract to make the agreement official," reads the statement from the 'Colchoneros'.
Since last Saturday there had already been rumours about the red and white interest and in a matter of days the negotiations have accelerated to the point that it is now official. Everything has been sealed in a meeting in the Spanish capital between the player's agents and members of the Madrid squad.
'Mundo Deportivo' has indicated that the player from Ciudadela will sign for the next five seasons.
