Real Madrid have officially completed the signing of Bernardo Silva, bringing the Portuguese midfielder to the Bernabéu on a two‑year deal after his contract with Manchester City expired. The 31‑year‑old joins as a free agent following intense interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, both of whom had monitored his situation closely.
Silva leaves City after nine highly successful seasons in which he became one of Pep Guardiola’s most dependable performers, making fifty‑three appearances last year and contributing eight goal involvements. His arrival follows Florentino Pérez’s re‑election and forms part of Madrid’s plan to add creativity, versatility and experience to José Mourinho’s squad. Capable of operating across midfield and attack, Silva is expected to play a central role in the new project.
The move also reunites him with Kylian Mbappé, his former Monaco teammate, and strengthens the Portuguese influence at the club, which had not signed a player from Portugal since Fábio Coentrão.
