Party with smiles in Greece. Olympiacos won the third edition of the Europa Conference League, beating Fiorentina, 1-0, in a competition final that was refereed by the Portuguese Artur Soares Dias.
In a duel that took place in the Greek city of Athens, Italians had in mind to forget the defeat in the last final of the Conference League, against English West Ham, and win their second European title.
But no one was able to score goals at the Agia Sophia Stadium. The final between Olympiacos and Fiorentina was tempered with a great deal of balance, even though the Italians created more chances of danger. Vincenzo Italiano's team scored after just eight minutes, but Artur Soares Dias disallowed for offside.
In extra time, physical fatigue took over the teams who chose to retreat lines and play more defensively, El Kaabi scored at the end and the victory went to Olympiacos.
