Olympique de Marseille defeated Ajax Amsterdam 4-0 at home in the Champions League on Tuesday thanks to goals from Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as well as an early double from Igor Paixao. It took six minutes for the Brazilian winger, who had not yet scored for Marseille, to open the scoring before doubling it six minutes later.
Before halftime, Greenwood added a third goal, and Paixao's assist helped Aubameyang complete the scoring in the second half. Marseille earned their first Champions League win since October 2022, bouncing back from a 2-1 loss at Real Madrid, while Ajax slipped to a second straight defeat after falling 2-0 to Inter. Paixao, who scored twice, told Canal+: “I’m very happy with the goals. This team has great quality, and the atmosphere at the Velodrome was incredible.”
