Greek Club Panathiniakos will not be sanctioned after settling arrears owed to Ghana midfielder Michael Essien.
The Green and Whites finally paid an outstanding arrears owed after the player had reported the Club.
Essien had not been settled for months before leaving the Greek Club to Indonesian side Persib.
A statement released by EPA Arbitration Court cleared Panathiniakos off any charges after the former Chelsea star withdraw the case.
“The court however removes the trial opened on 11 May. 2018 application by professional footballer Michel Essien, as the applicant declared through the attorney’s office before the Court of Justice with the explanatory memorandum filed to the Court from 15-6-2018, as the content of that statement is assessed by the Court of Justice, that it waives the from 11-5-2018, requesting, for all the reasons mentioned, the activation of a penalty against Panathinaikos FC “.
Michael Essien moved to Panathinakos from AC Milan and spent one season with the Greek Club before joining Persib.
The former Black Stars midfielder is currently without a Club after ending his deal with Persib who refused him a contract extension.
