Paris St Germain were held back by Club Brugge

As the whistle blew the score read Club Brugge 1-1 Paris, marking a disappointing start to the campaign which also served as Lionel Messi's first start for Paris in the Champions League. Ander Herrera maintained his form hitting his fourth goal of six matches to give the French side an early lead in the game. But the hosts leveled the score later with Hans Vanaken’s equalizer. Paris then faced a tough time after Kylian Mbappé went off the field with an injury and settled for a draw instead.

The game marked the 150th appearance of Messi in the Champions League and is the fourth man to achieve the milestone after Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Xavi Hernández. The draw also marks as the first for Paris to not win the opening match since returning to CL in 2012/13.
