City manager Pep Guardiola has stated that he will not pressure Rodri for an expedited return from injury, although he does not rule out the possibility of the Spaniard featuring again this season.
The Ballon d'Or winner sustained a ligament injury in his right knee in September and has since been undergoing rehabilitation. He completed the initial phase of recovery in Spain, and is now regularly seen at the Citizens' training camp.
Guardiola was asked about Rodri's potential return during a press conference after the midfielder was added to City’s Champions League squad.
"The rule allows us to add only three players. Unfortunately, we cannot include Vitor Reis on the list. I would like to add all four to the Champions League, and if Rodri can ultimately play, that would be great."
