Pochettino on Real Madrid's radar

Real Madrid have begun assessing candidates to replace Alvaro Arbeloa at the end of the season, with Mauricio Pochettino standing out as a serious option. Arbeloa, in his first senior coaching role, has yet to fully convince the hierarchy, prompting the search for a more experienced figure. According to ESPN, Pochettino is high on the list. The Argentine currently leads the United States national team, though his spell has produced mixed performances, and he could leave after the World Cup.

The opportunity to take charge of one of football’s most powerful institutions may tempt the former Tottenham and Paris Saint‑Germain manager, who was previously linked with Madrid after guiding Spurs to the 2019 Champions League final. However, he is not the only name under consideration. Reports in Italy claim Massimiliano Allegri is also being monitored, with the Milan coach said to favour a reunion with Luka Modric should he accept the role.
